Interior retrofits advice needed.
« on: February 18, 2011, 09:01:13 pm »
Hi,

Just joined the forum and looking for some help and advise on doing a few mods. I currently have a 1.9 TDI 54 plate and it's in pretty good condition however I have recently purchased some heated leather interior (with door cards cost me £650, good deal??) and needed some advise on fitting them, I'm looking for advise on how to wire it up, the drivers seat has 1 loom that I can see and it has the electric adjustable button. The passenger seat has 2 looms underneath, I currently have the standard climate control without the heated seat buttons so need to purchase one with heated seat buttons but I wanted to know how to wire it up, will I just need a kufatec wiring kit or will i need additional relays or modules?

My second problem is the rear doors do not have electric windows, I wanted to convert these to electric so I will definitely need the motors but what other wiring will be required? is the wiring already ready in the doors or would additional wiring be required?

The interior condition of the car is fairly good however there are a few nicotine stains on the roof lining and the side door pillars, i'm wondering what is the best way to fix these? there are also a few cigarette burns, Is it just easier to look out for cheap ones selling and replace the whole thing?

Finally!! 1 last thing, I am looking to upgrade my current lowline instrument cluster to a highline one, Will I need any other special modules or is it a matter of finding the correct one and getting it programmed by someone with vcds??

Sorry for the long thread guys but i hope someone can help!

Thanks

Hi

Ok i'm starting on the leather seats but I don't know which wiring kit is required? can anyone help? The heated leathers are from an 08 plate GT TDI, and the passenger seat has 2 looms and the driver seat has 1 I think!, The drivers however has the square electric button to move them, not sure what it's called.

Can anyone help with which kufatec loom would be the correct one. Also I have the climate controls not the climatronic.

Thanks , also is £650 a good price for them? worried i might have got ripped off.

thanks

I will start by saying welcome. I would say 650 is a good price as I have seen a full leather interior on ebay for £1000.

If it was me I would replace the damaged interior bits as they would require specialist repair and to be honest its not worth the hastle.

As for the highline clocks you would have to find some (the complete unit) and then code them into the car.

That's a starting point for you. :happy2:

Hi mate

Thanks for the reply, I thought the price was pretty good but wasn't too sure lol, I got 4 door cards with it as well and everything is in mint condition!!

Yes I was thinking about replacing the damaged interior but thought it would be expensive, do you know how much the B+C Pillar covers cost?? I sent a quick email to Plus-Automotive about getting them re-trimmed in alacantara but just awaiting a reply now.

currently trying to find the correct kufatec loom for the leathers. Also can anyone point me in the right direction to carry out the rear electric window retrofit?

Thanks, I will post some pictures soon!

This is the kufatec heated seat loom:
http://www.kufatec.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p680_c26_Seat-Heating---Harness---VW-Golf-5.html

The sub type you choose depends on what is on your seat altough I think all the leathers had electric adjustment.

Hi

Thanks for the reply mate, I am confused on the Variation part, The seat only has the electric adjustment as far as I can tell, which one do I choose in the kufatec variation bit? Sorry about this, I just don't want to end up with the wrong loom.

thanks

Just choose Lordose (+19EUR) I have leather seats which have the little round adjuster that goes in 4 directions (lumbar support) and thats the option I chose.

Make sure you choose the wiring loom for the YEAR OF THE SEATS you are fitting not the year of your car.

If the seats are from a 2007 or later vehicle, then you MUST swap the wires around when you get the Kufatec loom, from past experience me and apollo13 on here discovered the hard way! We don't want anyone else going through that hassle again lol!

So if you got 2007+ seats, be prepared to cut wires and extend wires! It's not hard if you know this PRIOR to fitting them.

Let us know how you get on mate.

Hi

thanks for the reply mate

Going to order the loom this week and thinking of ordering the tpms and rain sensor, I will hopefully start the fit in the next few weeks, now that it's sorted, now need to sort the pillars and roof. I will take some pictures soon and update, thanks guys, also can anyone recommend any other interior mods?
