Fitting a mfd2 headunit
(1/1)
daz5182:
well i've hada good search and want to know how to fit the mfd2 instead of the rcd300 i've got in at the min.
I think i know how to get the unit out but how does the other fit, will it just plug in? Where does the antenna go for the nav?
How do you put the code in?
Any help or links would be great.
Cheers

The below link will give you an idea on how to do the pulling of the dashboard apart and how to put it back together again.
As for the GPS unit, most will put it inside the dash when the radio is out (easiest way as a retro fit)
Not sure if you'll need any coding, it maybe just plug&play

thank you pal,
anyone know about the coding? How do i put the normal stereo code in as well?
Also where is best to place the antenna? Top of dash or just stick it anywhere in there?

It will work just fine without coding but some error codes will be generated (but are invisible and don't affect anything so don't worry about them). If you get the chance its probably best to get it coded for the correct number of speakers / soundpacks etc in your car. If you have the highline display in the dash it won't show any nav information until its coded.
