Sunset Red 1.4 TSI(TFSI) GT Sport - daily drive & track car
rex:
From what I saw you have the 1.4 twincharge, 170bhp, engine. This engine is completely different to mine (single charge).
I would say that a good software is safe as long as you take care of the car:
- respect the service intervals and use a quality engine oil.
- never go full throttle when the engine is cold
- always allow the car to cool down after pushing hard.
If you do these things, I can't see how a quality software remap will harm you.

Vlad, I would be way more conservative and concerned with both the single-turbo 122 PS
and the dual-charged 170 PS.
The only exception being the 140 PS, which is in fact mechanically identical to the 170 PS,
just with smaller brakes and a smaller dia exhaust.
rex:
Well yes and no :).
The 122 bhp has internals to take up to 300bhp (or close to that). So does the other engines.
In fact, some say that the 122 bhp internals, being a newer engine, are in some better than the twincharge ones (like the injectors for example).
You are right, 140bhp and 170bhp cars have identical engines. As far as I know even the exhaust is the same but with different tips.
About the brakes, in Germany the 170bhp cars have GTI front brakes and normal 256mm rear brakes. In Romania (and other countries as well), all 170bhp cars have 288mm brake such as the 122bhp or 140bhp cars (rear is similar 256mm).
I think that all 1.4 tsi engines are ok for tuning as long as they are not raced (trackdays are ok is cooling laps are done).
The twincharge has an additional issue to the single charge one: engine cooling.
The other problems are common: piston 4 lubrication, drive chain issues, intake camshaft pulley issues.

A small update...
As some of you might now by reading the Polar FIS+ vs E-MFA, I wanted to buy one of these products. But first, I found out I needed a new steering wheel controller. So I bought one...
New vs Old:
Unfortunately I had some problems coding it and after seeing that I need 350+ EURO to have the Polar FIS (or around 300 EURO to have the E-MFA) working I decided it was not worth the hassle. So I returned the steering wheel controller and forgot about the Polar FIS.
One more interesting thing I discovered a week ago, the K&N Cold Air Intake has NO effect on performance. I had a few runs with a friend, with a similar 1.4 TSI engine, with and without the K&N filter, and we were neck and neck. So, even if some logs show an increase of boost, I am afraid there are NO benefits...
But I will still use the K&N intake occasionally because it sounds awesome.

Iv still not mapped my car as I have been doing other mods but I still like the K&N CAI!! Well worth it
