Stoptech bbk arrived

Perfect size IMO for a fast-road set up, caliper looks beefy too!
He's mentioned using a 10mm spacer to clear an ET54 wheel in that thread, doesn't say how much clearance was actually required, it may have only required a couple of mm but he wanted a hubcentric and they're 10mm+.
What I'm getting at is it might be worth a quick double check??
GTIjames:
im not the most technically minded when it comes to all this clearance and ET values, but I think that chap on the other forum was fitting to 17" wheels - if this makes a difference
i asked stoptech and they got back to me with a stencil i print out to help me work out if they fit or not but you have to take of the wheel off... not had chance to do so - but they said with 18s it should not be a problem
anyone know the width of the oem brake caliper?
T88OMM:
Looking good. An essential mod on a tweaked ED30, the standard brakes are just dangerous with 300 ponies running through the front wheels. Also that seems like a good price for such a decent kit. Let is know how it performs :happy2:
tony_danza:
Nah, wheel size is wheel size, you can't alter that.
The offset is key here, it's down to us running an unusual ET51, so the clearance between the caliper face and back of the wheel can be tight. The lower the ET, either on the wheel or combined using spacers determines how much further it sticks the wheel outboard from the hub. So an ET51 with a 10mm spacer makes it an ET41, make sense?
They can sometimes build this into the bell to change the offset too by making it thicker. Take a wheel off and offer up the disc and caliper to see how much room there is to play with?
NeilM:
Is the black metal housing in the center rust proof? My Brembo's are rusting in the middle and it winds me up every time I look at them.
Is their a way to protect them?
Neil
