Tyre recommendations....
« on: February 25, 2009, 04:30:04 pm »
Have been looking at getting new tyres, and maybe a refurb on my 17" Monza IIs?

Anyway I had thought about Uniroyal Rainsport 2s (225/45/17) does anyone have them, or can recommend other tyres? (up to £80 each)

Thanks  :happy2:

I've used a few different brands, and for me its a close call between Mich PS2's and Goodyear Assy's, unfortunately they seem to be the most expensive, shouldn't be to bad in 17's though

Had Eagle F1 GSD3's on my Octavia followed by the Asymetrics which were the best tyres I tried.

Currently got the Pilot Exalto's on my Ed30 but bought 4 PS2's from Costco as it was 20% off for 4 a few weeks ago. Free fitting up to 12 months from date of purchase.

I'm sure there is a link to the EVO tyre feature on here somewhere, failing that look on their site as it is quite easy to find.

I've had Conti 2's, Conti 3's, Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas and very recently Goodyear F1 Assyms. I didn't get on with Conti's too well and they seemed to wear quite fast (8700 miles on fronts). The Vred's are very good in both dry and wet and are quite cheap in comparison to most other mainstream makes and seem to be wearing well. The Goodyears also have very good grip in the dry (not been out in the wet in them yet as they are new) but I'm not sure yet if that is just down to the fact the roads have just dried out and the crap is cleared or whether the 235 section of the 19's is giving me a little extra. :happy2:

Gone through several sets of Michelin Pilot Sport 2s over the past 5 years. Swear by them.

They offer great wet and dry driving dynamics.  Grip levels equivalent to having claws on your wheels and as a bonus they are very quiet when it comes to road noise.  Both reliable and hard wearing during high speed or aggressive driving situations.

Seconded, my 17" GSD3's were less than £100 a corner and are fantastic.
Only 250.1bhp - but with that noise, who cares?
