VW - Valeting
Boothy:
Recently the Wakefield VW dealer washed my car with a bag of sand or something and and made a right mess of the paint work. I have already discussed this matter with the manager who said that they would do a free '...buff and polish" :scared: which had me somewhat worried. My fears were confirmed after Stealthwolf raised the issue of them preparing the paint correctly prior to machining.
The manager has phoned me again today to say that I can bring it down for this doing and I have raised the same concerns with him. I'm not sure they will prep the car and will just use some numpty to go over the car with a buffer, leaving swirls galore. He assures me that they use an independent valeter to do the cars but I have still asked them to clarify what exactly this valeter will do.
I've never used a machine so want to be sure that when they ring back I know EXACTLY what they should be doing to removing the scratches etc. Should they be claying it first etc?
Heeeeeeeeeelp!
Bennett vrs:
If you were going for a professional detail you would be expecting it to be washed with snowfoam, and then the 2 bucket method, clayed to remove contaminants, paintwork inspected for depth of swirls and a suitable polish and pad comboto be chosen on that basis and then sealer / wax on top of that. I don't think any valeter at a dealership will or will do that, maybe not by choice but by Instruction. If it was me I would haggle a few free services or something out the dealer and take it to a pro to get it done right and don't let them wash it again and make sure they no not to wash it again!
Nasir:
VW Wakefield have their own body shop so they may have some expertise in that area.

Wakefield don't have a body shop mate or I hope not because they sent me to Huddersfield to have my rust examined? I wish they did though as I might be a little bit more confident in there abilities.
JPC:
Mate, they will bugger it up! guaranteed! they are not set up at all (not even 10% competent) at fixing paintwork issues like this. Even most bodyshops will screw it up!!
