Cel light on
« on: February 28, 2009, 05:43:35 pm »
As expected my cel light has come on from fitting the new exhaust.
I have a couple of questions as i know nothing about this area.
1. can i just get it cleared in VAG com and thats the end of it.
2. if not how do i fix the problem.  :chicken:
3. If i drive round with this light on is it fooking any of my sensors.

Cheers for the advice chaps.

As expected  :surprised:

Why would you expect it after having the exhaust fitted? I haven't had the CEL come on?

Its because of your CAT, Tom. Setting off the lambda sensor I believe.

Revo turn off the lambda probe (for threshold readings only) when Stage 2 software is fitted. Maybe Bluefin do the same. (because the software is designed to work with a TBE with a sport cat).

So do you think it just needs the lambda sensor switching off with VAG com.  :chicken:

You can't turn the sensor off completely. I don't know of Vagcom can be used to turn just the threshold measurement facility thingy off. Hopefully someone will be along soon to clarify. I guess thats the only way Revo could have done it?

I would guess that that's the reason for your CEL coming on.

as soon as it cleared with vag com it will come back on pretty quick and i am not sure if you can get rid of it on vag com ie shut it down

I can confirm that you need stage 2 to knock the light off the dash as Chris said, but it is not damaging anything which was my main worry so it is staying on.   :rolleye:

Does it limit performance or anything whilst it is on?? Obviously the car is not in limp mode or anything, but just wondering if because the car knows that something is wrong, that it safeguards itself a tiny bit?

No not at all, basically on the stage 2 it just switches the back sensor off in the cat, all it is doing is sensing more gases flowing past, the car still runs the same.  :happy2:
