How do Carbonio Intakes actually work?

The Carbonio has the air forced into the filter from the top vent in the grill where as the standard intake blows air over the engine when moving to, I did a mod on my standard intake to make it the same as a Carbonio which blanks the lower section off meaning more air forced to the filter,
I am not sure it would be good enough for stage 2 but in my eyes certainly will not restrict anything?
