Looking at getting an Ed30 - hi folks!

After having suffered two long years of RenaultSport ownership, I am now finally ready to give up being a French Fanboy in return for some working windows and German reliability!

I currently have a Megane R26, which has given me nothing but grief (although when it does work, fook me its a blinding car to drive) and am looking to change it for an Ed30 Golf.

My main two concerns with the Golf are going for DSG or not; I spend a lot of time in motorway queues (M5/M6 change if anyone knows it?) so it makes sense, but I don't know if I'll miss having a manual.  Also, my R26 handles exceptionally well (when the suspension isn't falling off!) and having driven a Mk5 GTI on Saturday, I was pleasantly surprised, but its not quite as sharp as the Meg (which has an LSD too).  Soooo, what do folks do suspension wise?  I don't mind spending some money on KW's or whatever people recommend.

Anyway, looks like a great forum so I'll be sticking around :)

Hello Russ, I recognise that username from DW  :happy2:

I can`t offer you much in the way of advice as I`m a relative newbie to Mk5 Golfs and only trundle about in a diesel anyway  :laugh:


I`ve driven ED30 for a while and I`m sure you wont be dissapointed  :smiley:
