And i must say a superb tyre, as stated earlier the grip of the 888 and with better wet weather grip than your standard road legal tyre, get's my highest recommendation, i can't wait to get some TD 1.2 home to fit them on. I fund them to good for the wife to use in everyday use, so the car now has Michelin Pilot super sports as daily tyres, and the R1R will be my ring and trackday tyres

So you rate the R1R as better than the pilot super sport? presumably lot cheaper as well!

danishmkvgti:
yes, the R1R (i've only driven the PSS for about 500km, and not on track yet, treadwear is 300) has way more grip than the PSS, but also fewer miles in it, but thread title stated best tyre for traction, and for that the R1R is in a league of it's own, i know Hurdy agrees with me  :drinking:

Hurdy:
I've had R1R's and R888's on my old golf with 360+bhp and 440bhp with nitrous and they were superb. The R888 has ultimately a little more grip in the dry, but the R1R's are better in the wet. (both GG rated)

The R1R's as an everyday tyre worked better for me as a normal road tyre simply spins away it's rubber and ultimately reduces the lifespan. The R1R's gripped better in every condition and so lasted longer than a normal road tyre

I think you thread title is to Vague.

no one on here uses no n road legal tyres, so in effect the answer to the best traction (road legal) tyre is going to be the R888.

Do you mean the best Road tyre as the R888/R1R is more track orientated
