Air Con compressor exploded!!!

it's the axle that seizes and the pulley continues to be driven. :smiley:

Hi tried to post pics but having problems!if you look down on compressor from the front of the engine bay there is a large hole in the side of the compressor!there are metal filings spread all over this area and down side of car and wheels! :sad1:do you think this will be expensive to put Wright? :sad1:

That's a major accident you've had. You need a new pump, and be sure that the whole system get's cleaned for any metalshrapnels before fitting the new unit.
I have bought mine from this company, at 1/4 of the price from VW Denmark, this i would like to point out is a new unit and not a refurbed unit :happy2:

the unit to replace is near the £1000 mark when i had a squeak and the dealers thought it was the compressor but it turned out to be the aux belt
