I used this guide to replace my PCV valve. I had experienced problems at idle with the revs jumping from 600 up to 1750 at around 200 increments when idling. Also sounded like it was misfiring. It was vagcom'd and showed up an air leak and that it was running lean. A quick google search showed it may have been the PCV valve. (dont ask me what it does) i bought a new one £50 with gasket, followed the guide and 30 mins later, result, fixed. Looking into the old Valve, it was clear it was broken exactly as in the guide. May have to give this a go with mine!, though mine was one flat spot and now shortly after I start it, the idle drops off and just stalls.  :sad1:
