Our big brake test

There are lots of people on here putting out big numbers in the engine department, way above VW had planned for us.  :party:
Therefore it makes sense to upgrade the brakes to reign in the ponies.
When you add a map to the car it is quite clear what gains have been made, via rolling roads and the seat of your pants,but there are so many brake options available and the only real guide we get are testimony from purchaser's of said kits.
A popular upgrade at the minute is the R32 brakes, obviously an improvement over standard, but by how much is my question. And the same then applies to the rear R32 conversion as well.
Even though the Disc size is bigger on the R32 they are still only one pots so it interests me what extra yardage they save you and also how much longer they last under heavy use before getting cooked.  :smiley:
i would also be interested in finding the same info about all the brake conversions that our current trail blazers use IE RedRobins kit, Hurdy's ten pots and Tony Danza's new set up.
So we are trying to set up a brake test and would like volunteer's to take part. This will not be scientific, but we may have a magazine interested to help us log the result's and should at least give us a real world idea on the different stopping distance's achieved by the various kits.
OK we need volunteer's to take a day out of there lives to help us do this, i have no dates set indeed this just a feeler at the moment so please put your name on the list if you are willing to take part in this experiment.
WE need :

1. standard car.
1. front R32 disc and caliper conversion.
1. Full R32 front and back conversion.

After these the spec will vary quite a bit, so anyone with after market upgrades is very welcome and appreciated if you could help the test out, and you never no your car may get featured in a magazine.  :drinking:

got some AP Racing 330mm 6 pots here. The MkV GTI kit.

343mm 4-pot Alcons and standard rears - braided hoses and track pads all round, Motul RBF600.

We're never going to be scientific with this, due to weight differences/tyres/blah, but it'll give a very good idea what you're getting for your money to ensure people make the best choice for their car, rather than just buying something pretty!

Please excuse me if i am wrong, dont you have a cupra Dan. If so i dont think the weight differences will help us. but if you want to fit to mine then lets talk.  :laugh:

Yup, I'm up for this as well.

10 pot TAROX GT34 set up, braided hoses and TAROX pads at the front with stock rears. :smiley:
