Intake noise
heady2010:
Hi, I'm looking to get a intake soon, but I don't want it too loud, but at the same time want good gains, am I right in saying the itg is very loud? With twintake not as loud and dbilas the most quiet. What kind of gains does the dbilas make? Can anyOne recommend anything?
Bernhard30:
I went Dbilas myself, cannot verify with any paper gains as it was mapped to Stg1 a few weeks before the intake went on but the car feels more eager (+ prob helped by the new DP/Cat too) and there is only a discrete 'Darth Vader' noise to it.
It's def not the sucking - snorting - chuffing sound like other intakes I looked at on Youtube.
That said Twintake and especially ITG have strong followings on here.

Yeah I checked out a few vids on YouTube too, not sure if like the loud chatter noise from the itg and the twintake, I was reading a old post of universal filters being put on the dbilas in replace of what they are supplied with, u have any experience with that?
Bernhard30:
Mine is the standard set up so far, the most front mounted flat box is like a flat sarnie box and may be the weakest link.
I do know PDT on here used to run a Pipercross Cone on the very front of his Dbilas set up on his Ed30 instead of the flat box arrangement.
If (when) I go beyond Stg1, may have a look down that road for better flow.
I think the Dbilas quietness is likely due to the pipe thickness, the cast metal tubes are like coffee jars in terms of their build, so guess air does not howl/whistle through. That said I've not held an ITG or twintake to compare.
