Bilstein B12 plus WALK

(1/5) > >>

Bernhard30:
So for my Ed30 (Revo Stg1, Milltek DP/CAT, Autotech HFFP, Dbilas Intake) I've lined up Bilstein B12 kit, and a WALK kit.

I'm really after your thoughts on whether other mods should be considered/fitted at the same time.
The car is purely for the road and want to retain standard ish levels of comfort, so guess I'll avoid full engine mounts.
That said I'm wondering about the gearbox mount perhaps?
Are ARB's worth doing or do they stiffen the general ride etc, given the car will be purely used on road and I want to retain the NVH levels to normal VW levels, if that makes sense.

...forgot to add got the brakes sorted the other week, so no need to mention I need to upgrade those.

Plus after fitting where would anyone recommend in the North East for re-alignment etc.

B12 + WALK are a fine combo.   :happy2:

Replace lower ball joint, upper strut mount and bearing and some screws:

OEM VW and Meyle are the ones to go for.

I'm very happy with ARBs. They keep most of the ride comfort (as does the B12).
Stiffer engine mounts increase engine vibration, but there are several different
mounts. Try a SEARCH on this forum.

I can't justify your needs. What do you want to get? Better handling? Improved
traction? You will both get with the B12 and WALK. Next I would go for the best
tyres I could get.

Carrera2RS:
I will be fitting a bottom engine  mount as I have driven a full THS mounted car and NVH very low, I will start with just the bottom engine mount. I hear good things about this mount in terms of gear change and reduction in tramping, with minimal NVH issues.

I run exclusively on the road and have worked hard to retain comfort and compliance, ARB's will not affect comfort, neither will WALK. I have been very pleased with TT MkII bottom arms

I run B16 + Walk and with adjusted tyre pressures the performance and comfort is better (35-36 F warm, 33-34 R warm)

RussZS:
I am looking at B12's.  Where is best to get them from please?

Which ARB's are best with WALk and B12 set up please?

Sorry to hijack

berg:
bilstein have stopped making the B12 out of the factory although several places will still make the kit up for you with either eibach or h & r springs.

pdt may do it for you or camskill, euro performance.

i decided aginst fitting as cant really lower my car as front splitter trashed were i live to get car round back into garage so I just have WALK, eibach arb's and TT lower wishbones (although am still considering B12 now have a spare splitter as can trash the other one )
