Is it too soon for a remap
« on: March 13, 2009, 10:53:25 pm »
With some great offers on remaps and exhausts i'm getting very close to purchasing my first couple of mods. My main concern is that the car is less than a year old and coming up to its first service. I love the performance but feel it needs the extra grunt a remap would provide and the soundtrack of a blueflame zorst. Would it be better to wait a month and let vw sort out any snags or ecu updates before modding or is this something i shouldn't worry about and take my first steps on the slippery slope?
Why do they call it rush hour when nothing moves?

get the car booked in for the map asap and just turn the map off when in for service or take it in to vw for the service and have it booked in for the map the day after

Mods yes but way too many to stick in this little box

^^^ what Mat said, you definetly wont regret gettin it mapped.  either get your car mapped after the service or get a switch-able map  :happy2:  :driver: :driver: :driver:

Cheers Fellas. Got it narrowed down to revo or bluefin. Leaning towards bluefin as the curve looks a lot smoother. How much bhp difference can you expect fro a cat back or turbo back millitek. Not fussed about chasing numbers but will it be a noticeable power increase?

These Revo curves are pretty smooth, Luke : -

I would definitely wait for your first main service before remapping, just to know that everything is better settled and to lessen any risk of warranty conflicts (highly unlikely on an established tuner's remap).

Enjoy

This is pretty smoooooth to  :innocent:

Luke I had mine in for a lubrication service this morning and just told them it was re-mapped and not to upload any updates which may effect the map  :happy2:

Oh and I installed my bluefin at -1k and around 3 weeks old

rule of thumb is that you should bed the car in with minimum of 1000 miles before you map, the factory mapping are generic perameters which are designed for a given outcome. the map moves it all around to where it should be.

fyi my dealership are map friendly, only risk is they may overwright it at some point, the APR boys offer a free reloads so not a worry if i choose this route but worth remembering

....Luke doesn't necessarily want to know about your lubing habits, Nathan!

"-1k" is pretty clever stuff - Is she just as fast in reverse?

Thats some wizardry remapping a car from 1k miles away, lol. I'll have to start looking at german tuners. Check out members rides for some pics i finally managed to get round to posting.

I waited around 4K miles before remapping my car.  Mind you I wish I had done it earlier...
