Replaced the rear passenger side window winder mechanism. The old one had the wires rusting up so eventually it just becomes impossible to move. Those motors are damn powerful though as I couldn't move it by hand. Lubed some silicone grease on the new one and now smooth as a babies bum.

At long last (after 4 years) I finally got a replacement tailgate sprayed and got around to fitting it on Saturday, this was due to the common issue of rust around the badge. I took it to AB Crush in Kent and they fobbed me off, but refered me to VW, but they never got back to me. The wings had already been done and due to the number of people being refused tailgate repairs under warranty, I never bothered chasing VW.

Anyway, here is the rust and the tailgates during swap. Not too bad a job, I'd certainly do it quicker the next time :)

I have a GT front bumper + genuine ED30 splitter and all the front panels etc to go on, but that is for another time.

@The Red Warrior It's pretty good baring in mind I just sent the parts to be sprayed, I'm happy enough. It's LC9Z which comes in a few variations I believe?

I'd say if anything the particle size of the flecks is very slightly smaller, but with the tailgate there is not much that meets at the same angle, so hard to see. I think when I get the front bumper on I'll know for sure, as the bumper to wing join will show any issues. When it's on I'll give the car a good clean and a machine polish and post some pics. I'm hoping to do that in the next few months, as I'm having the front off to have the engine out (to change the clutch, turbo and intercooler) so will do the bumper then.

Exactly same place as mine.
Does it look repairable from the inside?

Was that aimed at me @coolhandluke ?

If so, after taking it apart and taking the badge out, the corrosion on the inside wasn't bad at all. It starts at the metal edge fold/lip about 5mm back from the front panel and comes outside, so probably repairable if I was to do it again. The inside plastic panel comes off with 2 crews (inside the close grab handles) and then a hard pull, you'll need to take the wiper motor off to take the badge off as it hides one of the bolts. Once the badge it out you can assess the corrosion. The wiper arm can be difficult to get off.

Wet Sanded the headlights with 800, 1500 and then 2500 grit wet&dry sandpaper.

Then used Meguires PlastX polish, at first I rubbed it in with a cloth, then used a big cotton buffing wheel on a drill and finished with another polish using my Dremel on the lowest setting with a polishing pad.

Dremel part took absolute ages since the polishing head was so small but the finish came out so much better than I expected from using it.

Unfortunately I've now busted up my hand and have broken a finger so not sure when I'll get my exhaust, new boot handle or anything else done
