Fuel filter done yesterday. Bit of a pig to do as the single screw that holds it had rusted, so had to drill it out. The fuel that came out of it was black  so looks like it was a worthwhile job at 152K
I change my fuel filter every 25k miles. VW techs say they are good for 100k miles or so...but I have seen filters cut open at 40k and 50k and that alone is enough for me. I believe in clean fuel and air filters every 25k miles. I have a cleanable air filter, but for $45usd I will just go ahead and add a new filter and sell the used one after I clean them.

@Pudding it was from VW main dealer. It was £96 which is crazy, but I only expect to do it once. I should have thought about paint or nail varnish on the ends; I may do that.
It was one of the 30 degree days, so was flexible enough, not too bad when you get in a flow.

Fitted my Braille battery into a proper cage and then onto the battery tray.

Fitted the sequential smoked wing mirror  indicators along with some metallic black wing mirror caps which looks good against the red bodywork.

I received my new ED30 DSG shifter today...not going to install it right away because there is still life left in the original one. Just ordered it because ECS only had one and VW showed only three left in the US. I just refinished the gear select plate on the original GTI shifter, but that job got me thinking it may be time to look into getting the ED30 because I always wanted one for when it was time to refresh it. The ED30 wasn't available here, as you may know, but this shifter was also on the MK6 Golf R DSG. Anyway, just happy to get one before finding one were impossible.

The mk6 R DSG didn't get the Golf ball-shaped gear knob. Just the mk6 Edition 35. The mk6 R got this one instead:

My battery died, so put in a new Varta Silver Dynamic, and discovered the old battery wasn't the correct size, which wouldn't have helped!

It now fills the battery box!

Nah not yet mate. Be there all week and they closed Saturday and Monday so likely I’ll pick up next Tuesday. Apart from K04 conversion they’re fitting a new AC rad and sorting led sidelight issue. Oh new thermostat as well
NOW......do I do a 4WD conversion next???
Oh and picked up a set of fully refurbished BBS CH wheels. And they have been done in the exact colour I wanted as I chose it!!! Mystic Grey Satin

Wait until you drive it in winter and then decide.
