The mk6 R DSG didn't get the Golf ball-shaped gear knob. Just the mk6 Edition 35. The mk6 R got this one instead:

Nice looking shifter, might have to consider that as a future upgrade.

@Pudding it was from VW main dealer. It was £96 which is crazy, but I only expect to do it once. I should have thought about paint or nail varnish on the ends; I may do that.
It was one of the 30 degree days, so was flexible enough, not too bad when you get in a flow.

FFS   It's generic trim cut to length!  Oh well, if that's the cost, that's the cost.  Thanks mate  :happy2:

Bashed my pre-cat out and did some chassis tuning (ARB and damper adjustments) and it feels a tad keener to move and corner now

I bashed the cat out a few years back on my original DP but it made no difference, but this time around it definitely has.  Maybe it's just the software differences.  I was on custom back then, but currently on Revo (stock mode).  I think the best reason for doing it is the exhaust note.  The extra bass around 1500rpm reminds me of MK2 GTIs from back in the day, and they sounded great on the factory exhaust!

What ARBs are you using Kev? Also, I've been chatting to Damian at DPM and looking to get the Powerflex Handling kit. Are there any other bushes worth changing other then what they advise?

Cheers
Louie

Hi mate, my full chassis spec is as follows:

Eibach ARBs (26, 23). Rear ARB on stiffest setting, front on softest.
Ohlins Road & Track coilovers - 50% damping front, 25% damping rear.
SuperPro 90 Shure console bushes.
TyrolSport Deadset.
TT front top mounts (stiffer rubber than GTI).
MK7 front calipers with Clubsport S 2 piece discs.
Rear completely stock.
Stock geometry.

That little lot is amazing.  It's hard to believe a humble Golf can drive so well!  I've been in far more exotic cars (most BMW M cars) and in all honesty, the little Golf chews on their bumpers easily on challenging roads.

I don't recommend poly bushes anywhere except the consoles, but take your pick from Powerflex, Whiteline or Superpro, they are all the same.  By all means refresh the other bushes with new OEM rubber, but don't fit poly.  Keep the chassis as predictable as possible and remember super sticky cornering in the dry doesn't always translate to predictable behaviour in crap weather.  VW did all that tuning work for us with their chosen bushes and geometry  :happy2:

Very little mate. Mounting holes are the same as the Mk5 so just removed the tailgate cover, undid the wiper motor nuts and pulled it through to give me access to one of the badge screws and then undid the badge and replaced it.

Even the electrical connector is the same so just plugs on, however it is on the other side compared to the Mk5 so I had to loosen/move some of the retaining clips in order for it to reach.

Makes a massive difference though imo and saved me the hassle of painting my old one!

I dont Im afraid but it looks like any Mk7 will fit. I think the one I have may be from an Estate as it has a drain connection that comes straight out whereas the Hatchback comes out at 90°.
