@TwebbGBC

Finally found it... maybe a bit pricey but for all that sagging and mouse nest I was happy.

Had the old tints taken off my car and retinted by Pentagon Glass Tech.

Looks great Will! Are the rear windows factory tinted? How'd the rear window turn out if not?

The rears were the standard green tinted glass, they got midnight tint put over them to match the mk7 golf optional rear tint level which is about 90%. Flawless job carried out, really pleased with them :smiley:

Was bored so I did a timing chain stretch test with VCDS just for that peace-of-mind feeling.

Spec is ±5°KW, you hope to see no more than ±3°KW, and mine was -2°KW. So, looking tight still with 155k miles on the old MK5 FSI BPY engine w/K04 that's never had the N205, chain, or tensioner replaced.

That's good going and highly unusual!  Normally expect to see -3 or -2 at idle when cold/warming up, but after a drive that can move to -1 or 0 as the VVT moves things around.  Once the chain wears to the point of the tensioner running out of travel, that's when things can drift to -5KW or more.  But that's only 5 degrees, which isn't even a tooth off.....so I don't think things will ever get so bad it runs like crap......unless the chain snaps!

I know what you mean but as I couldn't see it, it was easy to ignore  :grin:

my leaking windscreen wash bottle on the other hand...

Funny you mention that.  After some front bumper work on mine I noticed dripping down by the driver's side wheel after refitting it.  Long story short after removing the bumper several times to check the pipework......turned out I hadn't quite clipped the main pump > xenon washer hose in properly  :doh:  Literally had to spin that clippy thing around a few degrees and it solved it.

Winner. Hoping mines something simple like that, it’s a job for this weekend

2007 56 plate, 69k miles - had cam belt,  waterpump, 2x F1 asy 5 tyres, major service, mot (pass), expensive trip to the indy garage but all needed

Also fitted brembo pads to front, and painted the rusty hubs satin black while I was at it. Still love the car after 6 years of ownership.
Cleans up well too!

Spent the weekend refurbing and painting my wheels. Really pleased with the results, still need to repaint the calipers which has got me thinking about maybe trying a different colour. Perhaps black? Have also ordered some new centre caps as the wheels just look weird without them. Finally a spot of Meguiars tyre gel to finish them off :)

Also used Meguiars Ultimate Black on the side skirts and rear bumper which I was really impressed with. Looks kinda patchy in the pic but that was before it had dried properly, they look almost new now!

A fresh pair of ps4 on the front to replace the slow-leaky old ones. The rejuvenation effect from fresh tyres really is impressive.

I bought a cheap ebay one last month.  It's much thinner than the OEM one, and the reflective silver bit looks like it was cut and stuck on by someone who can't see!

Last wash and a bit of wax before I put it away for the winter.
