Do you think my bump stops need attention? Changed the rear pads at the same time. Forgot to put the strut plastic cap back on one of them and had to remove and refit
That lower strut bolt is a pig if you are on axle stands or am I just a weakling. Judicious use of a ring spanner and a 4lb lump hammer helped!!!

 Top caps  Me Too.   I found the bottom bolts easy to remove as I used an extension bar through the springs. I replaced them  with socket head cap screws to aid removal next time

Insurance renewal time. Renewal was 540 but managed to get greenlight down to £399 which is the cheapest my insurance has ever been. Result :-)

New downpipe is fitted, car sounds mega now.

Was just a tractor before since the flexipipe was completely detached so the only part of the exhaust doing anything was the precat .

Gonna order a new PCV soon too.

I got a similar price last month also, my cheapest to date. Always expect it to go up these days.

Car was misfiring this week so swapped out the spark plugs and it is running great now. Also the shop messed up my order so got a free upgrade to Denso Iridium ones which was nice!

How did you get it down by £140? Did you have a competing insurer to get them to reduce it down?

Yeah.. basically compare the market quotes were sub 400. I didnt ask them to price match or tell them what the quotes were but when he came back with 399 it was a done deal

Went to Goodwood last night and then did their skid pan experience this morning - a pretty good day! RWD was fun but didn't feel bad getting back in to the ED30 - we had some decent fun on the roads back! Here's the car facing off the Be-emms

Decided the front end needed a refresh. Took the vw badge off and took the chrome off to paint too. Masked off the GTI badge after reading some posted of people breaking the tabs off.
Pretty pleased with the final look.

Passed the MOT today with no advisories, not bad for a 13 year old car with 142k on the clock.

Yeah they're fooked!

You're not weak, that bolt is done up frutin' tight.  Pretty sure it's a one time use bolt, so I hope you changed them?
