Technically yesterday, but found the source of my “slow puncture”.

Can’t believe the tyre fitter didn’t mention anything…

Diagnostic day for me today once the kids have gone to grandma’s. Try and find why I’m down on power… fingers crossed it’s just the DV but I’m starting to worry.

I haven't done much at all recently...other than having some thoughts.

The poor thing sits in the dark garage mostly. Its only been driven 1200 miles over the past year with weekly trips into town for necessities...on dry road days of course. I suppose this 'will' help with longevity...having no rust to speak of.

I'm considering a rebuild on both the old K04 turbo and S3 injectors I removed in 2020. Looking at $600usd for the turbo and $150 for injectors. This will only be done so I have them as spares. I wouldn't really want to rid myself of them.

Also considering another tune...not decided just yet. Would be its sixth if I choose to do so. It would be a custom tune on both the ECU and DSG by Rowe Tech in Portland Oregon. Cost for both is $600usd...so not bad really. Just wanting to talk to the guy more to try and get more out of him as to what to expect to help determine the worth of it all. When I drop off the injectors, I hope he's willing to offer more than I could get from him over the telephone.

Finally managed to swap out both rear discs as I managed to pick up some Febi Bilstein rears delivered for £25.95 from Amazon, which is far better than the £45.95 I paid for th wrongly sized ones I had last weekend.  Used the blowtorch again and the spline bolt came out so much easier this time on the passenger side than the absolut ball ache th drivers side gave me.

Also replaced the joiner between the rear siencer as the old one was starting to blow even though I tightened it up.  Replaced with  a stainless steel option but used my old clamps from the OE as much better than the ones supplied wtih the pipe.  After replacing I also cleaned up the exhaust pipe and used some matt black heat paint on it to help longevity as I noticed patches of discolouration on the pipe which I know will eventually lead to rust.  Also donated via paypal to the server for the site.

Whilst under the car I also noticed the silencer had started to split which I hadn't noticed before so will need to get this replaced at some point.

Do you have an impact driver? One of the hand held ones you whack with a hammer?

They are excellent at removing stuck brake disc retaining screws.

Ahhhh,  yes I know.
I've use a hammer with a screwdriver before to good effect, as well as blowtorches when things get seriousy bad.  This time I fitted a new one as there wasn't one on there and it was annoying me each time I put the wheel back on.

I replaced my previous battery with a 'new', secondhand one which I suspect was either returned or had damaged outer packaging.

For £30 off ebay and 10 mins to swap, hopefully a bargain and an £80 saving. Time will tell, or the first cold snap of winter.

Fitted my “winter wheels”, ready for my Monza’s getting refurbed tomorrow.
They’re 16” Audi alloys, managed to pick them up for £80 off eBay. Plenty of tread on all 4 tyres and I’ve even got 2 matching brands! That no one has ever heard of, not even Chinese people..

I bet the ride quality on 16s is quite pleasant!

To be honest I was expecting better, it’s not that much different. It’s a tad softer but these tyres are 94XL load rating as well and that’s the biggest ride quality killer.
Just glad I managed to swap my wheels over in time… lost my locking wheel nut key… Fortunately having VW tools I managed to hammer a M16 triple square in there and shred them off.
