Had my rear end vandalism repaired by ChipsAway
Truly impressed by the standard of their work

Thanks to APR NZ. For lending me their hoist today, not too mention helping with my car from 8am-8pm.

Went to re-install my Downpipe. Ended up snapping off two bolts on the turbo.
So redrilled and tapped them. If this ever happens again, the turbo will be pulled off for this to be done.
Way too hard to do it attached to the engine.

Installed APR HPFP, went to stage 2+.
installed WALK KIT. That is a highly recommended upgrade for any mk5/mk6 owner.

Went to go install my bilstein PSS9 kit. Turns out one of the front shocks bound/rebound adjuster is damaged.
But that's not the worst, the adjuster are gone. But worst off all the spring caps for the front shocks are missing too.
So gave up on that idea. Will return them and just get H&R lowering springs instead.

Also installed a Downpipe and Stage 2 Tune on a MK6 GTI.

Just given her a hose down and then a wash with Megs #62 shampoo

The good stuff: she's clean and already looking much better.  :jumpmove: The bad stuff: getting her clean has shown up the blemishes, there's one odd circular dotted series of tiny scratches in the DSR door

Just debating whether the rain will hold off, so i can then clay, wash, polish, gloss and finally wax. Also debating whether i have enough time to do all that before the Mrs kills me for neglecting her and our son

Rain held off (just) but i didn't have time to go through the full detailing process so after washing the car and going for a walk with the Mrs and our lovely little boy, i followed up with a bit of Megs Final Inspection, Rain X for the exterior of the windows/windscreens and Auto Glym glass polish on the lights and the inside of the windows/windscreens.

I'll post up some pictures in the detailing section as results aren't bad for a "quick" effort

Had to b :scared: ll :scared: ck the cat for jumping on the car twice - she's put some small scratches into it  :sad1: hopefully they'll be sorted when i work on it next time after a polish  :rolleye:

Very bravely cut up 2 rear bumpers, one of them an R32 one  :surprised: in order to plastic weld it into a US spec one with a shortened recess.
Pics to come shortly in my build thread.

Adjusted the actuator to crack open the wastegate at 7.5 psi which caused turbo flutter at around 23 psi from 3k rpm to 4k rpm. Then the boost peaked at 27 psi and ran 23 psi to red line. With over boost causing the turbo to flutter, I decided to back off a bit with the actuator but went too far. It is again back into lag from 2k rpm to 3k rpm, but is 2 to 3 psi stronger than it was in the beginning. So I will tighten the actuator up again, but just not as far as I did when I caused the flutter and over boost. Monday = Fixed = hopefully. Also, it ran consistently .4 seconds quicker in the 1/4 mile this week than it did last week.

Yesterday: trekked to halfrauds to buy a new tax disc holder tax disc holder repair kit because I lost the silly allen key that came with the holder, presumably when I recently cleaning the interior.

Today: Gave it a bit of a scrub.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
