Spent two hours cleaning the wheels and sealing them up. If I'd woken up earlier, I'd have cleaned and sealed up the boot/door shuts too.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Drove it home from work after not driving it for a week.

Even on the stock map was such a pleasure to drive.

Cleaned the wheels with Valet Pro Bilberry wheel cleaner. Used my wheel brush - neighbours must have thought i'd not only flipped but gone over the top as well because not only was i out for the umpteenth time in the past month cleaning my car (who cleans their own car?) but i was now using a bog brush to clean the wheels of all things...  I can highly recommend the Bilberry cleaner, i thought i'd need to bust out the AS Tardis but the Bilberry dealt with every little nasty on the alloys  :pomppomp: (which the Auto Glym stuff i'd used the previous couple of times, simply couldn't handle)

Whilst they were drying off i washed all the exterior plastic trim with the Poorboys plastic polish stuff - not bad at all. I got bored as hell cleaning the front grill though. All those honeycombs.... had to pretend i was playing blockbusters in order to keep the interest going

I then sealed the wheels with the Poorboys wheel sealant - very good stuff, wheels have come up a beaut using this stuff, just a shame i only had time for one coat as I then went out with the Mrs and my son to Chiswick House.

Will wash the car tomorrow and hopefully find the time to finally get around to claying, polishing, glazing and then waxing it - fingers crossed

I just used a microfibre to dry them. Saves waiting around. I find soaking a corner of a microfibre makes it easier to apply to the wheel.

For the front grilles, I have a mini EZ detail brush which I poke through the wholes. Drying with a MF is a pain. I apply trim dressing to the grille with a raceglaze/engy style rush and again buff with a MF.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Cheers for the tips Stealth  :happy2: I think from now on whenever i rinse anything off i'm going to dry it myself rather than leave it to dry as the water here in London has too much calcium carbonate in it so small deposits of lime are inevitable from natural drying which you then have to clean off again  :fighting:

I did the grill with a MF but to be honest i'm not sure using a brush would have made it any more exciting for me! I'm just glad i persevered
