You're not meant to be touching/using anything that isn't connected to or part of the car. Technically means pressing the answer button on your handsfree ear piece isn't allowed.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

All paintwork has at least two layers of sealant.

Next weekend: remove the feckin' residue!

Well after 18 holes of Golf in a club match winter fourball (we won 2 & 1), wind was blowing 35-40 all day s was interesting to say the least!.

Once home with blue skies and 4 hours of light left I decided now was the time to wash and clay my Candy Ed30.

Car was first washed with Meguiars NXT shampoo/cleanser with a microfibre Wash Mitt, then fully dried off with a Chamois. After the car was dried I then buffed it with a clean cloth and then I ran my hands over the paintwork and could physically feel the roughness of the paint and after looking at paintwork spotted quite a few areas with tiny black spots and quite a lot of red ones and even a blue one!!.

Then it was time for attacking the car with some Meguiars Clay and detailing lube. Using a brand new bar of clay and the detailing spray I got to work.

I could not believe the amount of crap the clay was picking up, the grey clay soon turned from grey to reddy/brown, flipped it over and started again, the clay must have got folded about 20 times such was the contaminants it was picking up!, worst offending areas were the roof/Bonnett/tailgate and the lower parts of doors, the other areas were not too bad )so thats upper doors basically  ). I only did the metal panels today, I will do the front and rear bumpers another day as I wanted to wax the car after to seal things up.
I used collinite 476s and gave it 1 coat, left for 10 mins and then buffed off with a micrfibre cloth, once this was done it was time to get the dual action buffer on the job to really make it shine  :happy2:.

Once that was done the light was just starting to fade so it was good timing really.

Hopefully will get another nice day soon to Wash/Clay/Wax the bunmpers and sideskirts, and then I will give the whole car another session with the collinite 476s and the bbuffer, that was my day anyway, no pics unfirtunately as I was that "In the zone" I totally forgot and by the time I remembered it was dark

Last week on the Jetta I noticed that the rear fog light wasn't working.
Changed the bulb - no change.
Ordered a £3.55 bulb holder from VW, swapped it over and presto working again!

Booked it in for cambelt, water-pump and full service at my local VW specialist (and good chap to boot) for mid december. YAY!

Now, the fuel flap doesn't close properly (locking bit not engaging) so I've got to get that bit apart now - DAMMIT!

I got the inner light units wired up as part of the sidelights today.

Looks cool, but as i will be fitting new rear lights soon, I will not be re-creating this mod as its a bit messy!!

Any pics?

That's different. Others have said Pro's were stiffer than the Sport's. Like H&R's Race versus supersports. You had wider wheels or spacers on with the sportlines? I had them before, and only rubbed with 8mm spacers on.

they are tossers mate, i got caught for the exact same thing on the A1 a few months back,  the copper took great joy in telling me its an offence to even hold a mobile phone while driving, hence i now have 3 points on my licence :sad1:
[/quote]

before you know it coppers will be pulling you over as they saw you scratch your nuts whilst driving.

I ahve BT headset and I got pulled over for "allegedley" pressing the button on my ear to activate the call, I told him quite politely that it was on automatic answer and that i was just pushing it into my ear at the time as it was coming out, my mobile phone was in the centre console at the time and he knew that.

he gave me warning (Not sure about what really, scratching my ear? lol) and send me on my way.

I got pulled for "speeding" once in North Wales on way back from a week in Abersoch with 2 of my mates.

I was in a contraflow doing 40mph and was behind 2 other cars with another car behind me then copper behind him.
Anyway after we merged back to correct lane the speed restriction stayed at 40mph and he took this opportunity to pass the car behind me and sit behind me doing 40mph (while the cars in front moved further ahead!!.

he sat there for the half mile and we were doing bang on 37 on GPS (speedo read 40mph) and then the de-resticted sign came and i slowly accelerated upto 70mph (dual carriageway), he then tailed me for halfmile and pulled me over for doing 48mph in a 40!!!!!!!

I had it out with him at side of road before he "Invoited" me into hsi car where he proceeded to generally wind me up!.

I sat there and basically said i was doing 37mph and had 2 witnesses to that fact, he then said to me who is gonna belive 3 english lads in a welsh court?

Could not quite believe it!!!. Anyway I took the ticket (what else could i do lol).

Funniest thing was tho, he was obviosuly not that great at paperwork as it took 20 months for the letter of intended prosecution to arrive, I then gave it the maximum 14 days before my reply, then another 9 months passed before my license was requested, it got retuirned to me 6 months later and it was then I noticed that the dates were wrong as the "Alleged offence" happened in July 2005 and the endorsement was dated Jan 2008, put my license back an envelope with a copy of the original ticket he gave with correct date on it, another 3 months passes they write to me saying it was mistake and license then arrived with original date of July 2005, by which time it was 42 months since the alleged offense, waited 6 months then sent license back to have them removed.

I took great pleasure in sending a letter to the copper congratulating them on their efficiency with the paperwork and that the points had after all only been on my license for 6 months before being removed.

It was only then that my friend Alison (solictor) said I could have got them waived altogether as intended prosecution was too long from alleged offense, ah well, now have a clean license and avoid coppers in wales althogether, when I was last there one pulled in behind me and I immediately pulled over, got out and lit a ciggie. He asked what i was doing and I said "Having a Smoke!", I was told by one of my work colleagues (ex Traffic copper) that they need to be behind you for at LEAST half mile (preferably over 1 mile) to average your speed so I was not giving him the chance  :booty:.
When I set off I pootled along the 60mph lanes at 45mph until he turned off  :driver:
