Managed to fix my bonnet lock so the bonnet actually opens now! And also fitted a new cabin filter and new headlight bulbs and sidelights then gave the jetta a well needed wash.

Just been on a cracking drive down to West Wittering beach and back.

Took the A3 to Petersfield in Hampshire, then took the A272 to Midhurst in West Sussex, and from there down to Chichester on the A286, and on to West Wittering.

Some great, twisty pieces of road on this route, and plenty of opportunities to overtake those tractors, dawdlers and Sunday drivers.

God I love my car, the mid range acceleration in third and fourth are superb, making overtaking and pressing on such a joy. The power delivery seems very linear. I wonder If I'll ever feel the need to go beyond stage 1, as my car is boggo at the moment, and I love it! Still looking forward to Stage 1, which is only a few weeks away now after a major service.

When swmbo was away for the weekend I gave the Mk5 a mega good clean and hoovered it to within an inch of it's life. Definitely made the car more light weight with the amount of dirt and rubbish removed.

Full snow foam, pressure wash and wax so I had some interesting frozen ice lines on my car this morning. At minus 6 degrees here I don't think they're going away anytime soon!!

Met with the insurance adjuster to show him the dozen or more spots still below par from the reconstruction work of the body shop.

He's not very impressed as well. But at least I get to drive 'er now for the time being.

Booked into VW for my Ed30 annual service, its the larger one this time at £259, they tried talking me into a brake fluid change as well but as its having its cambelt/waterpump service in May it can wait until then, VW are also loaning me a courtesy car while its there so im not hanging round for 2.5hrs.

Went to halfords, bought some wheel chocks.

Placed behind rear wheels and took handbrake off to stop brakes ceasing / freezing and put less strain on handbrake as I live on a hill.
