Tackling that filthy black exhaust!!!!

Looks good Jussa, know how you feel about keeping the dark ones clean, dust just seem to stick to it straight after cleaning.

My exhaust is in need of a good clean as well.

I am assuming it has to be Silvo or is any metal polish alright to use? I could not find any in Morrisons and was thinking about getting Brasso but it is not for silver.

Thanks in advance.

Jussa, car looks mint! i just had a go at the tailpipe, i actually thought it was matt black!  insert sarcastic :congrats: got about 80% of the black crap off but just gave up with the rest, i wasnt sure if the chrome had actually been eroded or not....

anyhow, quick question....seeing your bumpers colour coordinated made me realise it has to be done on mine....did u get that done??? how much did it cost?

Jussa:
Thanks guys.
The bumper and side skirtings I had done for £270 at a local panelbeater
To be honest I also thougt mine were matt black  :signLOL:
If you use a soft non-scratch scourer and just keep polishing with the silvo it will eventually come off, it wouldn't have eroded.  You may have to leave a layer of silvo on the tip for about 30 minutes and then keep on polishing, but it will come off.
Obviously I wouldn't recommend brasso, but if you look at this whole thread some guys do use particular oven cleaners and get good results.  :jumpmove:
BTW you should be able to get Silvo in any Tesco or Sainsbury's  :drinking:

270....not bad, wud hope to get it done slightly cheaper, will call around, were you happy with the result, i think it makes a big difference, well from what i can see on your pics compared to mine!

im sure on a previous topic i posted about window tinting you said you got yours done on your car, i cant rly notice the tint tho on your most recent pics?

Frenzy:
just had a go at this using the soft non scratch scourer and the Silvo wadding...

...and i've had mixed results:
The good: The tips of my exhaust look better  :rolleye:
The bad: they aint all over shiney  :sad1:

I don't think i've put in enough elbow grease but some of the tarnishing and the black shoite looked like it's never gonna shift. I'll have another go at it tomorrow if i get time but i'm wondering whether to bust out the wire wool and look for some autosol as well...  :scared:

If i get any better results i may be so bold as to post pictures but at the moment it aint worth it

Well done to Jussa for getting the result he did, i can really appreciate it having had a go  :congrats:
