fitting suspension
ali6n2:
just got the car a few weeks back and planning to change springs and shocks, till now ive done pretty much most mods myself except paint work. Has any one had experience fitting them in, if so how difficult would it be for a newbie,
just that i dont want to start it and think crap.
cheers, also any suggestions on springs on shocks, budget of around 300-400

Hello!
I looked in to doing the suspension work on my car myself too. Unfortunately on the MK5 golf its not simple.
The rear suspension is simple enough but the front can be a nightmare.
To remove the front shocks you have to remove the front hubs as the shock sits inside the hub. this can be a problem as it means removing the drive shafts from the hubs.
Here is a link to a guide on an american forum:

Hope this helps :happy2:

thanks mate, really apprecite that, looking into it now. what suspension have you gone for, u got any idea about the fk high tech spring and shock kit? No point me going for coilovers because im not going to slam it, around 50m should be enough
PDT:
No need to remove driveshafts of hubs, just need to know how its done.
I will take some photos and post up next time we fit some. We take 3 hours for springs/shocks and springs (£120).

Where is your South location Dave, I'm looking for someone to fit my newly acquired AP collies and your Tyne and Wear place is a little too far for me. Would the South location be the same price?
