Remove headlight switch

I've had a mk6 headlight switch for ages (along with window switches) and finally decided to fit them.

Just tried to remove the headlight switch by the push in and rotatoe slightly clockwise and pull method - feel like i'm gonna break it! Is there a nack to it or does it sound like i'm doing it wrong?!
