Hi are the build numbers vaguely associated with registration dates, so early builds will be 56 plates and so on?

So after much pain and many phone calls later I tracked down a guy called Dale Kirk-Wrightman at VW UK who solely deals with special edition VW's.
Great news my plaque has never been claimed so currently on it's way to me by special delivery... Thanks VW great service yet again:-)
Whoop number 0732 is my Edition 30!!!!
