Nikon p7000 or Cannon g12
gobbleplease:
I was just wondering if anyone was using any of the above cameras ? I was looking for some opinions on both ?
I like all the features of the cannon eg the effects but ive always liked the way the nikons colours seem brighter ! Ive heard that the hd video camera on the cannon is better too which imo is a big reason for me going for a new camera in the first place. Although i can manage to get the nikon for £220 which is about 80 squid shy of the cannon !

I've recently bought the G12. What I liked about it over the Nikon were independant controls for things like iso/exposure etc - much easier than navigating through menus; chunky build - feels solid and fits the hand perfectly so less "flimsy"; articulated screen - makes taking shots from different angles and even selfshots even easier.
The Nikon has a better zoom and I think larger aperture range. They both do HD video so not an issue from that POV IMO.
I'd say go down to something like Jessops and play along with both. There's also an Olympus and Samsung cameras that are equally or better matched for the price and format.
Hedge:
Check out DPReview.com they are pretty good and you can compare different models.

+1. In fact search the dpreview forums - there's been a few G12 v p7000 threads. Also apparently the G13 or whatever it will be called will be released around September if you can bear to hold on for a while.
