K04 or hybrid?

<< < (2/3) > >>

daz_pd:
there are quite a few companies in the US with a K04 kit for the 2.0 TSI, the UK companies need to pull their fingers out, IIRC JKM's Octavia is running the APR TSI kit.

Just be aware that a K04 is not a straight swap like it is on the TFSi. The Turbo needs to be machined quite extensively (it needs a DV amongst other things) to get it to fit and work so it could work out quite expensive at the moment.

not when the APR kit is all done and the DV port machined into the turbo en masse in the states.

It's a cheaper kit too compared to the TFSI version.

340-360bhp available and it goes damn well i have to say.

Revo I gather are in R&D phase of the K04 upgrade. no idea when the SW will get released and even then as Carl says you'll have to find someone in the UK to modify the turbo housing.

Yep the APR is machined ready. However it's $2400 (Approx £1500) just for the turbo. Then your looking at Software required and a few other oil pipelines etc that are not included in the kit that you need. All in all you would be lucky to get change out of £3k fitted.

All info about it here

Janner_Sy:
Shame, I was thinking of maybe getting a tsi in the next year and just bolting a normal k04 from an ed30 and having an easy 300hp with a stage 1(k04 tuned) map whilst still having the stock exhaust.  I thought that could have been done for less than £1k but its never that simple :sad1:

SteveP:
Revo will have a kit very soon from what I here, there own Mk6 GTI is fitted with a K04 now and reports suggest it running very well.

I am not 100% sure the internals of the TSI block are fully up to the job but only time will tell.
