Cruise Control fitting guide

I'm a bit baffled mate, I am getting the cc coded today but to save a wasted journey I thought I would just confirm which module I have, a quick check and the part number ends with BC, cross checking on Ross Tech and this shows its for a midline, but mine has the highline fitted......

Also what model year is your Caddy?  My car is an 07 so do you think the diagnostic wire will be on it?  I know I can check but it would mean taking off the wheel again and I haven't got the time.

Cheers, Lee.

So I paid Martin (Gizmo68) a visit today for the necessary coding, but left there slightly despondent (to begin with)!  As I mentioned in the previous post after checking the part number for my control module I was baffled to find it is listed as a midline, when I have the highline MFD.   Anyway, coding was done, first piece of good news, it has got the diagnostic cable fitted, codes were excepted so we took it for a run.........no CC??  Went back and tried again and realised the coding was wrong, input the correct ones and went out again, still no CC, went back and decided to have a search on the Ross Tech site for anything we missed then Martin found the following:

1K0-953-549-BC    Type 2    SW 0070    Midline    Yes    -    #1

Above is the part number for my control module and the '#1' at the end means that CC can not be retro fitted!!  :sad1:  Bear in mind there are about 40 different variations and mine is the only one that doesn't work.......

Anyway,  we decided to leave the coding in place in anticipation of me sourcing an new controller.  On the drive home I turned on the CC for some reason at which point the light illuminated on the dash board and hey presto, I now have CC?????????????

Very baffled, but not complaining, I will still keep an eye out for a new control module though as mine definitely doesn't support a MFSW.

Thats odd about the #1 designation... I must admit i'd never noticed that but also then odd that its decided to work...

Sorry for the late reply.. been at work but as you found out you do have the diagnostics wire... My understanding is that its already on any car after 06.

Also re midline / highline... I dont think that relates to if you have a highline dash or not... Its just the 3 grades of steering control module.

I have fitted cruise control to 2 cars with the BC controller
1st didn't work ( 638 SW 0070 )
2nd worked ( 035 SW 0070 )

Ross-Tech claim:
Control Module Part Number    Slip Ring      Software Level    Variant    Steering Angle Sensor    LIN Version    Notes
1K0-953-549-BC                    Type 2      SW 0070            Midline    Yes                                    -                #1

    Notes:
#1: Does NOT allow Cruise Control Retrofitting, in such a Case you need to replace the Steering Wheel Control Module.

This is the scan from Lee's controller:
