Close but there is a little more to it than that.  Hence why most people suggest using VCDS where available.   :happy2:

I think Awesome or probably acting on the side of caution with their suggestion that a MFSW is required it is more correct to suggest that if a MFSW is fitted you have a better chance of not needing a replacement steering controller.

Really, that's all I did to confirm the steering control part number on my vRS, granted I confirmed the additional numbers via VCDS purely because the vRS was the 'BC' number, the same as the Golf which shouldn't technically have worked according to Rosstech wiki.....  :popcornsoda:

If you were to sit rotating the steering wheel all day long you wouldn't see the two Torx screws that hold the lower shroud in place until you've lifted the upper shroud  :evilgrin:

I'm not sure if you can get it that way with the Golf steering wheel, it's not something I've tried personally.
