Carbon CAI on stage 1 map. Will it make much difference?

(1/4) > >>

Jungle_Faced_Jake:
I'm getting my car ready for a stage 1 Revo remap. Have put in a Pipercross high flow panel filter and will be upgrading the DV to the revision D one. I'm also thinking about upgrading to a carbon CAI such as the Carbonio. My car is a standard K03 GTI and I'm hoping to get 250+ BHP. Will a carbon CAI make any difference or is it just a bit of bling under the bonnet that'll make a bit more noise?

rich83:
They do zero. I had one and sold it, no more noise no more power.

vRS_Pagey:
As Rich says, although the Carbonio intake looks good under the bonnet, it does sweet FA!

To achieve the results you are talking about tbh I think you will need to look to a stage 2, or at the very least a stage one with a full intake.  VWellsy has a K&N Typhoon kit available - http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,33662.0.html.  Not a bad bit of kit as I understand and running with a good stage 1 map expect 240bhp +.   :happy2:

I kind of suspected that was the case regardless of claims of BHP and torque increases etc. Might just save my money I think and stick with the stock CAI.

Janner_Sy:
The carbonio is useless, however other intakes such as itg, forge, evoms, bsh etc will easily provide a realistic 10hp over the stock airbox with a stage 1 map
