Chungster, do you have a link I can swot up on... I may be able to come...not sure what to expect - never done a track event before so just want to be up-to-speed with the risks and any sensible precautions I may need to take.
Sorry to sound boring and sensible..
The day is run in 15 min sessions, with around 12 cars max in each session.
Price is around £165, and you get 6 sessions. i tend to use 3 in morning and 3 in afternoon to give the car time to cool down.
You'll need a crash hat, or borrow one from Combe for £10 refundable deposit (i think)
sensible precautions:
car in perfect working order
car will be noise tested, but i don't think it'll be a problem for most GTI's, unless you're running straight thru de cat and big turbo!!!
make sure all fluids are topped up.
make sure all tyres are pumped up correctly (some people like to play about with pressures, but i don't bother and just make sure they're at manufacturers recommended levels)
make sure tyres have good tread, as you will lose a bit out on track!
and last but not least, just drive sensibly. its not a GP out there. The VW days tend to go well, and everyone gives each other room.
if you are coming along, i can always give you a passenger ride first thing to get u familiarised with the track.
Here's a clip from a private track day i did there with Neo.
Me in the Grey GTI, Neo in the Blue one.
