Hi Pal,

Im quite new to this photography at the min and your pics are lookinjg top. I had the panasonic DMC-TZ10 and have now moved up to the Canon SX30IS. I am looking at improving a lot and just wondered how do you get the settings with the foreground as you have with the cars and the background blurred out. I have altered the iso settings and i am assuming its to do with the shutter speeds and aperture settings, however having not played with these settings before i am unsure where to start playing. What is best to adjust to start off and get a feel for it? Any help appreciated. Cheers Shaun

I don't know much about your chosen camera to be honest. In my case I am using a 50-500mm lens at 500 with a resonably slow shutter speed.

The best way to find out is to download a EXIF viewer add-on for whatever browser you are using. Once you have that you can just right-click and then view EXIF details for any web picture (if they are available).

Like this.

The out of focus foreground is because of the lack of depth of field and the blurred background is because of the shutter speed.
