The EP3 model (2002-2006) very rarely make 197bhp as standard - some as low as 160bhp, the 2007 onwards are usually bang on (I've had both the old & the new :happy2:)
The lack of torque will mean they will struggle to keep up with a torquey TDI which has roughly the same power :wink: especially if your already moving
You have to be a VERY good driver to get the most of a type-r, if you change gear to early you will miss the power band :sad1:

I've not heard of a k20 making much if any less then its quoted figure :-s
I agree with you about driving them properly to keep it in vtec though, that takes a bit of getting used to!
Back on topic...car looks great. I'm seriously thinking about swapping the GTi for a diesel!

That's what the chaps at TDI north recon (Warrington CTR specialist). Also at the Feb JKM dyno day, an EP3 only made 187bhp - the owner wasn't impressed :grin:

Well if anyone was to ask id defo say got for a remap now ive had it done. Before hand i kept asking how different it is and to be honest yesterday as soon as i got in it i didnt think much of it but tonight ive been out and about doing things and testing it on motorway and my god its good fun!

Haha.. Well is that a priority?? do they need done? dont think there that bad tbh, im discs all round as im 4x4 so get a good range of breaking. Dunno if the 2wd was discs all round aswell...
Got the timing belt, waterpump etc coming up in the next couple weeks so thats that lol.
