i keep hearing this price going up rumour but im yet to see anyone get a reasonable price for their Gti as a trade in

gaz b:

I bought my GTI from a VW franchised dealer yesterday. It's an 05 plate in mint condition. Through the VW used car locator GTI's of a similar year and milage are priced upto nearly 13k! :surprised:   Fortunatley I never paid anything like that that kind of money for mine so I don't know if I got a bargain or the others are overpriced.

BeezerDiesel:
Yeah, I tend to agree. The prices bottomed out last year when everyone got panicked by the media hype and dealers didn't want cars sitting around onsold. Now things are settling down a bit I can't actually see any sign of stuff going up in value, more along the lines of staying steady but actually selling. I think if the rumoured shortage of availability of cars becomes true then they may go up a little in value but not very much, and only certain models and specs.

Same with houses, they things actually seem to be selling at the moment but you read one report and they say the prices are going down and another says they're going up. So again lets just say they've steadied a little(?).

yeh when i was trying to get an edition 30 that was new or nearly new you couldn't get one under 20k, then a few months later they were 16k, the arse fell out the market and cars were going for silly money, i just think if anything now they may be heading back towards where they should be although im still to see any evidence to prove this

Greeners:
Hows this for evidence!  :happy2:
