Not sure what that means but I had to knock down a gear to overtake.

spot on stealth  :happy2:

These days I do that anyway. I've learnt that flooring it in 6th to overtake places a lot of stress on the clutch.

BeezerDiesel:
I owned a mk5 140 TDI before I got the GTI (with a Polo GTI in between!) and it definately rides better than the GTI but doesn't handle noticably worse, maybe on a race track but I'm not in to the sort of thing anymore.
They do go very well with a re-map, and I would imagine the 170 goes very very well with a remap when the DPF lets you.  :happy2:

GTI has a much nicer interior though so you can stay smug!

matt a:
my old 140 gt tdi never had a problem keeping up with my mates octy 2 vrs.

Greeners:
SWMBO has a 2.0TDI 140 Jetta and although quick is no where near GTI quick in standard form. And as for an ED30, no comparison mate, and as for a re-mapped ED30

neg:
GT Sport 170 would be a good match for a standard GTI in some situations with the extra talks (more gear changes mind )
