Ashtray / cubby hole bulb for 12v socket

As above, my mk4 GTI used to have an illuminated ring around the 12v /  cigarette lighter socket. I've noticed on my mk5 it has the spring loaded cover and the ring but doesn't light up at night. Does the mk5 gti have a bulb holder and the bulb has just blown or does it not have one with it having the spring loaded cover?
