Downpipe question

(1/2) > >>

RS6BRIT:
I've fitted all the parts ready for stage 2+ now, with the exception of a 3" TBE. The plan is to fit the downpipe (3" decated) and mate it to the the original exhaust for now, but the question is when it throws up a CEL due the to the lack of CATs will it go into limp home mode ? It will be a couple of weeks before I can get it Mapped so dont want to drive around in limp mode for obvious reasons.

The overall plan is to clone Mikes motor :notworthy: without the CH's (not my bag) but everything else as it looks the nuts !!

cheers for the help chaps, and i have searched but the search function doesn't recognise CEL which is a bummer.

vRSAlex:
It won't go into limp mode with the decat, but it will throw up a light.  This won't cause any problems and will be perfectly fine to drive.

RS6BRIT:
Just what i wanted to know, cheers mate, top man  :happy2:

Marshall:
How did you get on? Have you fitted your decat yet?

RS6BRIT:
Yep, I sure did. Went a breeze, took me about an hour and a half. Ironically the tough bit was supposed to be the bolts that hold the top flange to the turbine housing but infact the biggest PIA was the little ones on the sleeve where the mid section meets the back section !! I had to heat it up and bang on a 12mm socket to get it off.

Still it makes a huge difference, freer to rev and spools much quicker. The sound is nice when rev'd with a little popping on the over run. Not noisy when driven, but more raspy under WOT.

My CEL came on after about 50 miles, will probably grab a cel fix for now whilst i gather pennies for the remap.
