help with fault codes and cruise control

hey all

i attempted to fit crusie control to my 04 gt tdi today i got as far as installing the new stalk i tried to install the wire from the steering wheel control module but it didnt seem to fit and i ran out of daylight and had to get home so i put the car back together to get me home.

my airbag light is stuck on ive tried to clear it using vcds but just comes straight back on :(

my skid light come on and brake judder

and i have about a million fault codes when i scan it lol one being steering wheel control module not coded 01042

and also my heating doesnt work the yellow lights come on show show the speed but nothing comes out and theres no noise...

everything was fine before i attemped to fit the cruise control

i will carrying on with it in the morning

Hi,

You're probably sorted by now but if not.......

The ESP light is probably because you have had the steering module disconnected. There is a procedure to reset this using vcds. pretty sure it involves several cycles of the steering left and right then a drive above a certain speed. The brakes and abs are connected to this system so hopefully that will sort itself when you do the adaption thing.

Check the airbag connector you must have had this off when you took the steering wheel off. Or under seat plug in case you slid the seat further back than normal when working on the s wheel.

Not sure on heater thing. fuse gone perhaps? especially if battery was still connected?

When you code the steering module there is also the choice of cruise on the wheel. make sure you have chosen cruise on stalk.

Any of those are worth a check

does anybody know the correct coding for crusie control or how to enable it?

if the car is stationary and i flick the switch to on should the light come on the dash?

Im not sure if this will help but i believe you will need to code engine part as well inside vcds to make it actually work its 11463 for a diesel! I fitted cruise control to my brothers golf and we set it up inside the steering control module as well but disnt work, i need to try that engine code but the car died yesterday!!
