As i have a spare K04 that has been damaged but not beyond repair i'm interested in knowing who might be able to convert it to hybrid??

jedi-knight83:
ok ive seen hybrids mentioned else where and i take it your not talking about turning your gti into a prius..... so what does it mean what people talk about hybrid turbos?

you keep the shell of the turbo but change the internals to something beefier eg porsche cayenne/ko4 hybrid

however, revo told me is a waste of time and just to go straight to stg 3, not sure whether this is eniterlt correct though?

FR&R Tuning used to advertise a hybrid upgrade for the K04. Its not on their site anymore though.
£595+VAT - includes a K24 compressor wheel. clipped turbine wheel and an upgraded bearing.

Universal Turbo's offer an upgrade also
£500+VAT - includes a bigger compressor wheel (type unknown), and upgraded bearing.
They dont clip the turbine wheel but can do free of charge if required

Both of the above include a full overhaul.
If the turbine wheel needs replacing this works out at approx £150+VAT

so is this a way to upgrade my k03s turbo with better internals without having to fit and relocate a k04?

IE i could do this hybrid thing and just bolt it back in the OEM place... bit of mapping and thats it?
