MK5 GTI - Disappointing Revo Stage 2 Results?

(1/5) > >>

Hi Guys/Gals

Hope someone can shed some light on this situation for me  :sad1:

Had the car in with Awesome GTI today to have a Revo stage 2 map uploaded. Current setup on the car at the moment includes an ITG induction, Revision D divertor valve and a BCS TBE (200 cel). Car runs on V-power only. Dyno's from stock -> Stage 1 -> Stage 2

Stock

Stage 1 B6:F8:T2

Stage 2 B:8:F9:T3

Now I know a stage 1 to stage 2 isn't as different between going from stock to stage 1. But is no increase in BHP normal?

I presume that this is a 200PS GTI. From what i can remember, Tony_Danza ran stage 2 on his GTI and it made about 270bhp.

PDT:
Stg2 will usually see 265-270hp and 270-290 ftlb.

Torque figures Seem massive compared to other dyno results, not unusual though. Timing numbers seem low, would expect timing of 4-5 quite easily.

Looks like torque drops a lot at 3500rpm and at 4000rpm the power flattens off.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Good to know that the bhp is resonable. guys at Awesome did indicate a very low timing but wasn't able to tell me exactly why it has happened. I've tried V.Power from a different garage this time, thinking it could be bad batch of fuel from the local. Knocking was experienced with any timing over 3 hence why its set so low. Any ideas of the cause or what to look out for?

As for the torque being so high and flattening out so quickly, is this down to the setting applied or is it another sign of a problem?  :sad1:

It could be a bad or 'off' batch of V power.  Most cars run on V power will be at timing 5-6.  Saying that, you still made good power for stage 2  :happy2:  I remember my car being set up by Awesome when I went stage 2 (K03) and I was running 9-6-9 with no timing knock at all running on V power (Im sure BHP was the same).  Im presently running 9-6-6 (K04) upgrade still with no knock on V power.  As for the high torque figure, a few people have questioned Awesomes torque figures, but to be honest, use a dyno as a tuning tool.  Keep using the same dyno throughout all your upgrades to make a comparison on said upgrades.
Im sure after a few tank fulls of V power from a different Shell and you asking nicely, they will run your car again on the RR.
BTW I was there this morning, you car looks sweet  :happy2:
Looks like you have gained 40 ft-lbs of torque wheather the reading is high or not from your stage 1 graph
