Reducing Wheel Hop - The definitive answer?
George:
Hi all,
Since owning my Edition 30 I've noticed that wheel hop is something that is very apparant even with standard power. I've read countless threads on here, PM'd certain members and even spoke to Jonnyc at the Autosport show this year but I'm still no closer to getting the definitive answer.
At the moment my car is running standard power but I'm planning to have it Revo Stage 1 mapped within the next few months which I know will only enhance the problem. The car is a daily driver and I plan to drag race it this year.
I just wanted to know what different members on here had done to reduce wheel hop and what order they would rate the effectivness? There is plenty of information on here regarding different methods such as:
Dogbone inserts
WALK
Coilovers
Upgraded dogbone mount (THS/VWR/Vibratechnics)
Upgraded side engine mounts
Hopefully we can get a definitive answer on how to solve GTi / Edition 30 wheel hop.
Thanks :happy2:
Weston:
WALK & a full set of VF Engineering mounts has totally stopped wheel hop for me. They were fitted together so I can't comment on which was more effective but this combination works :happy2:
mkviken:
WALK, power flex torque arm mount insert and XDS setting 2 has reduced wheel hop almost completely unless the tyres are very cold
Greeners:
Lower and top two engine mounts are are an astounding modification if you don't mind the extra NVH. The hop is eliminated and wheel spin is reduced to.
Next to a remap this is the most noticeable/best mod I have ever done to a MK5.......... :happy2:
