What's happening with GIAC these days
« on: March 17, 2012, 09:08:58 am »
Interesting to note there's been little in the way of noise to suggest user growth or product development from GIAC relative to newer VW models in the UK.
I'm not a user of their products myself but nor am I a hater, it is a shame to see them potentially losing ground to some of the more widely known tuning brands.

Be patient :happy2:

I've been doing some VCDS logging recently and noticed that the boost requested is good and high. I spoke to my tuner and he said that GIAC have been able to give this high boost map for stage 3 cars for a while now. He mentioned that they have to do some quite tricky mapping of the ECU by scaling to do this and that they will also be doing this for other levels of tune.

Requested is really good at 2680mb, whereas most other maps do not currently provide this.

Here is a quick pic of my VCDS log downloaded to excel. I have the original cvs files too for anyone who wants a closer look.

I run a boost controller now, so my actual will go slightly higher than requested.

Thats my thoughts.

Seems bizarre to request a boost level that is unachievable until the 22nd serial (what RPM is that?).

IATs look awesome though!!

Sorry for the late reply. It is because I am on a boost controller that sets its own duty cycle and builds its own boost. I didn't want the boost to come in so hard so as to conserve my transmission/Clutchpacks. :happy2:

Sorry just checked it on the forum. I know what it is. Performance benefits appear to divide opinions at stage 2+ k04 level
