Subframe bolts

<< < (3/4) > >>

Timvgti:
Read different topics about the subframe bolt, but couldn't find if this solves my problem:

I have a 2005 mk5 gti. I often hear a knocking noise from the front. Typically occurs only one time after each direction change (left or right). Mostly you hear this one time 'knock' on roudabouts.
always just one 'knock' at a time/per bend.
Sometimes, but not always (also depend on weather/cold/hot) I hear some 'creaks' when going over speedbumps.
Are the subframe bolts my problem?
What subframe bolts to replace (2 or 4 bolts?) and do I need the spacers?

Thanks,

Tim

RobboGTI, have a peep at this clip if you are unsure, its a straighforward job but this should help you not make the mistake of thinking you can do one side at a time independently :drinking:

Timvgti:
And what about the TORQUE SPECS?
On the ECS movie I see: 70NM / 52 ft-lbs +1/4 turn
On some forums I see: 110NM / 81 ft lbs + 1/4 turn

56OctyVRS:
The haynes manual says 70nm for the sub frame bolts plus a quarter turn.

Thanks!!!
All other bolts around them are also 70NM (so I can check them)?
And can I use a 4 post auto lift for this?
Do I need to re-align the car?
