Remapping mk6 gti

Recently got an October 2010 on a 60 plate mk6 gti. Can these be flashed through the OBD port or is it an ecu removal still?

PDT:
Could be either, ask your tuner to look at a full OBD read to see if it has TPROT  software installed.
