Are you using a vcds cable as your results don't seem to be vcds format? I got my info after doing an auto scan of the car.

Your error SPORADIC 0004-NO SIGNAL/COMMUNICATION CONTROL MODULE INCORRECTLY CODED suggests to me that maybe the gateway wasn't incompletely coded for all your hardware. You need to let the ecu know that you've installed a RNS 510 in the long coding.

wan't there a battery drain issue with one of the versions of the RNS? i swear i've read something on here about it  :stupid:

Yes, this problem does affect the RNS 510 if the firmware is upgraded to 2660 or higher and requires the CAN bus gateway to be upgraded.

so it is the CAN GATEWAY. Which iv located behind a cluster of fuses which are situated behind the compartment near your right knee. So is it safe for me to reassemble the dash around the 510 unit?

Your Can-Gateway just needs coding correctly by the looks of it.

I'm surprised you have an L revision in a 2008 car. Unless it's been sat on a dock somewhere since Jun 07 as from about Mar 08 they were S Revisions. My 08 Octy had and S revision.

L version shouldn't cause battery drain.

Are you suffering from battery drain, the unit won't shutdown properly for a short time after you have locked the car

Strange,
As I have 57 2008 mkv, and fitted rcd 510, and have no battery drain issues. When your car was actually build? 2008 + cars should have updated canbus gateway. My car was build in 2008 January and part number is 530L

The problem is fixed :) i still have an error code coming up and when i erase it just come straight back. Iv spoken with Eddie and he reckons its the sat nav causing the code. It just needs adding to the unit via vag-com. I might have to take you up on that offer BOXXER1973. How much £££ would you want?

Hi, I just changed my 1K0 907 530 E with a L version and after coding id does not drain my battery anymore but I got those 2 error codes
2 Faults Found:

01518 - Bulb for Back-Up Lights; Left (M16)
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit
01506 - Bulb for Rear Fog; Right (L47)
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit

The bulbs are OK but they don`t light up anymore :(
Can anyone give me an idea? Can be from the can gateway or is something else?

Possibly coded the gateway for left hand drive, as the two faults are for the reversing light and fog light which are on opposite sides for LHD cars.
Sarcasm for free. Anything after that can only be considered as a bonus.

Just because you think you know something, doesn't make you an expert if you've just read it on the internet, y'know.
